Kola nuclear power plant

The Kola atomic power station is located in the southwest part of the Kola peninsula in 15 kms from cities Polar Zоri, on the coast of lake Imandra. In a radius of 100 kms from the station the cities Apatity, Kandalaksha, Kirovsk and Monchegorsk are located.

About 70 % of the electricity made in KNPP is used by the region, 7-8 % is consumed by the station. The rest of the electric power is transferred in Kareliya and exported to Finland and Norway.
