The hull of what is supposed to be the world’s first floating nuclear power plant will be moved from a shipyard in the Arkhangelsk region on the White Sea in North-West Russia to another shipyard near St.Petersburg on the Baltic Sea.
The move is a result of capacity problems at the original shipyard, according to an article from the Barents observer. According to other sources, the project also has serious economic problems that may threaten its completion. The security aspects of a floating nuclear power plant have been a major concern for environmentalists, and the project has been criticized for that reason.
We will continue to follow the development.
