The major of the city Sosnovy Bor, where Leningrad nuclear power plant is situated, is member of the organizing committee for the international hearing on decommissioning in the end of October. This week, the major met with NGOs from the DecomAtom network, which gathered in Sosnovy Bor to prepare the hearing.
Major Dmitry Poljaevsky was well informed about the hearing when he received the NGOs in his office on Tuesday 16th of September. Together with his co-workers Irina Alexeevna and Natalia Malevannaya, the major gave several suggestions for improvement of the draft program. He suggested a guided tour in the city as part of the excursion last day, and proposed including the company Ecomet S in the hearing. This company is melting radioactive metal, and thus can be seen as integrated into the nuclear waste issue.
The hearing will take place in Sosnovy Bor 29th to 31st of October. Information on the hearing can be found here: http://www.decomatom.org/sites/default/files/infoletterENG.pdf
